President's Service Award
Starting in the 24-25 school year, Canal Winchester High School will be recognizing students this year by awarding the President’s Volunteer Service awards in two students in different categories. The two categories are the teen and young adult service awards. Please review the following requirements:
The class of 2027 and 2028 (sophomores and freshmen) are eligible for the Teen President's Volunteer Service Award (for ages 11-15):
- Bronze Award - 50-74 hours
- Silver Award - 75-99 hours
- Gold Award - 100+ hours
The class of 2025 and 2026 (seniors and juniors) are eligible for the Young Adult President's Volunteer Service Award (for ages 16-25):
- Bronze Award - 100-174 hours
- Silver Award - 175-149 hours
- Gold Award - 250+ hours
To be eligible for this award, students must complete service during a calendar year, have that service varified by the supervisor, and ensure all hours fit within the guidelines of the President's Service Award (listed below). All hours must be completed between April 2, 2024 and April 1, 2025. All hours must be completed, posted and verified by April 1, 2025. This national award will be presented to qualifying students in May of 2025.
To Earn this award, all hours must be logged in SchooLinks, and verified by the person who supervised the service.
Eligible Service:
- Unpaid acts of volunteer service benefiting others
- Service through National service programs that provide a stipend (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) may count towards the Lifetime Achievement Award, but not for the annual Bronze, Silver, and Gold Awards)
- Travel stipends, transit/parking passes, membership passes, expense reimbursements, and other nominal volunteer support do not impact service eligibility
Eligible Service does not include:
- Donating funds
- Political lobbying (Non-partisan voter registration is an eligible activity)
- Religious instruction
- Conducting worship service
- Proselytizing
- Volunteer service performed as part of court-ordered community service
- Serving only family members
